A quick hands-on look at the Fujifilm X-E1 with the 18-55mm lens attached, and a focus test.  Sorry about the poor focusing of the video – I couldn’t get the iPhone to lock and keep focus!  Hopefully you can make out that the X-E1 with the 18-55mm lens is significantly faster than the X-Pro 1.  After having updated the X-Pro 1 to firmware 2.0, I have to say that it’s this newer 18-55mm lens that makes more difference than the camera body.  Apparently the 18-55 has two AF fast motors in it.  Hopefully that’s the system they will be using in all future X-mount lenses.

Good move! I was going to sell my X100 to be replaced with the X-E1, but I’m struggling with the idea of parting with it! Might just have to end up keeping both! The X100 still has the big advantage in some situations of being almost completely silent. Still, the X-E1 is fantastic and I have a sneaking suspicion that I may well end up using it more than the X-Pro 1.
