This tip comes from something passed along to me via Facebook and I thought I’d share it as it will prove to be very useful to anyone who has purchased the Nissin i40 speedlight for Fujifilm.
I had been aware that the i40 supported HSS on the Fujifilm cameras, but that it hadn’t been published yet as an official feature so I’ve been keeping quiet, but now this is out there online I thought I’d help anyone who has been desperate for the function on their X-Series.
To activate the HSS you need do is turn the flash to manual, press and hold the test button for 3 seconds, which if you don’t know (as I didn’t!) is the power LED. After 3 seconds the LED next to the manual control will flash. Unfortunately you are now not in TTL mode so it will only sync with the manual flash controls, but that is good enough.
I’ve tested this with the X-T1, X-E2 and X-Pro1 and it works with all three syncing successfully right up to 1/4000th…. enjoy!
