I’m just posting up a few random shots taken with the [easyazon_link asin=”B00CNZTPGA” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”m06d-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]Fujinon 55-200mm[/easyazon_link] lens on my first day of using it. Maybe it will persuade you!
First impressions are very good, looks like Fuji are onto another winner with this lens. I’d forgotten how nice it was to have a telephoto lens in the bag! Shots are all JPEGs, I don’t have the time to process RAW files for this quick run through. Hopefully the new plugin I installed should be showing you the EXIF data below the images (Thanks Richard!). Pretty much everything was shot wide open at the appropriate focal length simply because it was getting dark.
Click on the images to open them up larger in a new tab – if it doesn’t work, blame WordPress, which seems to have randomly taken to changing my image settings!
05-06 NEW: Some landscapes.
In-camera pano – 55mm camera in portrait.
FUJIFILM X-Pro1 (57.8mm, f/9, 1/50 sec, ISO200)
Another pano, stitched in CS6 this time.
I think I’ll be using this lens an awful lot as a portrait lens. Here are a couple of very quick portrait shots.
This shot is at 55mm (83mm equivalent)
And what it looks like when you zoom to 200m (300mm equivalent)
Some others showing wide, mid and full zoom
The bokeh can be a little fussy if the background isn’t far away, but that’s quite typical for a zoom lens, even ‘pro’ ones.
Get the background further away and you get a lovely smooth out of focus area though, the equal of any Nikon or Canon pro zoom.
These two shots are 55 and 200mm wide open, looking for any evidence of CA. Looks pretty good to me. These are JPEGs but the RAW files appear pretty similar.
The obligatory brick-wall distortion shots!
Another couple of shots showing the wide-angle end and then fully zoomed in.
Some random shots of flowers! All of these are at 200mm, at pretty much the closest focusing distance of 1.1m. The bluebell shot it at ISO 3200!
The obligatory wildlife shots! A duck – because that’s easy to get a shot of!
A shy heron, who flew off when he turned his head back around! I know it’s not a great photo, but how I would have killed for that sort out performance at ISO 3200 out of my Nikon D300S!
Some shots of a very brave Sandpiper! (this is a fairly small bird if you don’t know). I was about 2m away.
A couple of Black Headed Gull photos
A random rabbit!
And finally, no telephoto lens gallery is complete without a swan shot or two!
